Small Kurinuki Goblet & Saucer with 24k Gold Porcelain Crystals
$ 90.88
This intimate goblet is a one-of-a-kind sculptural piece, hand carved using the kurinuki technique and raised on a tripod of three porcelain crystal legs, each individually carved and entirely coated in 24k gold lustre. The small vessel, holding 77ml, is ideal for ceremonial use, sipping spirits, or display. The interior is glazed in a rich, glossy teal glaze while the exterior surface remains raw and matt, having been washed in black underglaze to deepen the tone of the dark brown, carved stoneware. The entire piece was fired upside down during all three firings – a technical risk necessary to achieve the full glaze and gold coverage over the entirety of the crystal legs. The matching sculptural saucer features a raw, carved rim, a glossy teal centre, and 3, individually carved crystals fully coated in gold, echoing the form and finish of the goblet. Together they form a striking contrast of dark clay, vibrant glaze and reflective gold. While fully functional, this piece is best held around the goblet body and not gripped by the crystal base. Whether used in ritual, held in moments of pause and reflection, or placed on a shelf, this goblet is a functional art piece of presence and intention. Hand wash only.
